Frugal Scrapper Extraordinaire:)

For those of you who have been following my blog, THANK YOU, I'm still here and as FRUGAL as ever. I'm just expanding my blog title to further reflect my "altered" muse. I'm still the same (sometimes goofy) FRUGAL SCRAPPER that I've always been and will continue to focus on FRUGAL papercrafting projects:)

Color Inspiration Monday:)

I just realized I did not post a project last Monday!  Oh my!!!!  Well, hopefully my project this week will make up for it:)

Now I know that many of you may have made this project as it is definitely not something new to paper crafters...but it IS new to me (well NEW from the perspective that this is the first time I've actually MADE it).

The pp I used in this is just the perfect combination of colors for my color inspiration this week.  I had bought the paper at my LSS about a week ago and couldn't wait to use it...then I noticed that it matches well with my color inspiration foto this week.  How cool is that?

So without further adieu, here is my color inspiration foto:

And here is my project:

I made a card box with a magnetic closure and 5 beautiful note cards, perfect for gift giving.  I haven't decided if I'm "done" decorating the cards and box yet, but wanted to at least show how I used the color inspiration above to create this awesome project.

Here is a picture of the box when it's closed.  I definitely think this needs a bit more pizazz.  I'll have to search for some additional inspiration and work on it more.

I hope you have time to make something inspired by color this week.  There are so many amazing color inspired blogs, I'm sure you are bound to find something you love!

Frosted Designs - Stamps

Now that's what I'm talking about...this week's challenge over at the Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge is to use stamps on our project.  Now, if you know me well, or not even well (heehee), you know that I just LOVE to use stamps on my projects, right?

With that in mind, I am VERY excited to share my latest project with you.

I used two stamps on this card.  One of them is one of my favorite sentiments from a Tim Holtz stamp set.  The other is from one of my Technique Tuesday sets.  For the Technique Tuesday stamp (the "flowers"), there are actually 3 flowers on the stamp but I only wanted to use two.  Therefore, I stamped all three stamps on a piece of scrap paper, then cut around the flower that I did not want to use.  I used this flower as a "mask" by laying it on my project and then stamping again.  I lifted my "mask" and voila, I only had two stamped flowers.  I then popped some color on the flowers using a blue gel pen and some buttons from my stash.

Our sponsor this week is Pink Cricut and they have some really cute stamps on their site.  Click on over and give them some love, o.k.?

To be entered to win a prize, just make a project using stamps and post it on the Fabulous Friday challenge post between Friday, July 13 and Thursday, July 19.  I cannot wait to see what you've made!

Time to Celebrate!

I'm still lovin' the paper I've been working with the last few days and found an awesome card to use for inspiration here.

Here is the card I used as inspiration.

I just love the patriotic feel of it and the paper used is awesome...alas, I don't have any of this paper in my "stash", so I had to adlib and use some of the wonderful paper I used over the last few days...I'm actually really happy to be continuing with the same paper stash until it's gone...otherwise, I end up with a bunch of "been there, done that" scraps...ya'll know what I mean, right?  A huge THANK YOU to Tina Hale for sharing this great card here.

Anyway, I really think that each of the cards I have made have their own "personality", so I still feel I'm being creatively original...except for the fact that I'm using some awesome inspiration I'm finding these days and loosely "lifting" the layout.  Of course, I just LOVE to give credit where credit is due, and always try to link back to where I find my inspiration, as I've done above.  That's what it's all about in this cyber world of all things creative anyway.  I'd be VERY flattered if ya'll use one of my original creations as inspiration for a project of your own:)

Now, for my take on it...I loved the inspiration piece so much, that I really didn't change it much...why mess with perfection, right?

and here is a close-up of the words on one of my patterned papers.  Initially, I thought the card looked a bit plain and I was going to cover this paper up, but then when I read the words that were showing, I decided, the words added to the creativity and message of the project so I left them exposed.
Happy 4th of July to you all!

Color Inspiration Monday:)

I'm so excited to share my color inspiration with you today because I'm using an awesome project created by a friend of mine as the inspiration this week.  I first saw this on FB this past week and immediately knew I just had to use it.  THANK YOU, Dawn for agreeing to let me use your beautiful quilt as this week's inspiration.  YOU ROCK!  Please go visit Dawn's blog post here.  Don't miss out on her other beautiful projects, too.

So here is this week's inspiration:
and here is my "take" on it:

I had a great time making a pin wheel for my card by taking a square piece of paper and cutting diagonally into the center from each corner (leaving about a 1/2 inch space in the center of the paper) and folding every other cut into the center, just past the center so I could adhere with a straight pin.

Here is my second card from the inspiration piece:

For this second card, I handmade my embellishments by punching a circle in red and then a circle in a contrasting color.  Then I placed the contrasting circle in the circle punch on the edge and punched a bit away from each "side" so I could layer it on top of the red circle and create the same effect as on the inspiration quilt.  As you can see, I didn't do it evenly all the way around, but I do like the way it came out anyway.

Enjoy!
