Frugal Scrapper Extraordinaire:)

For those of you who have been following my blog, THANK YOU, I'm still here and as FRUGAL as ever. I'm just expanding my blog title to further reflect my "altered" muse. I'm still the same (sometimes goofy) FRUGAL SCRAPPER that I've always been and will continue to focus on FRUGAL papercrafting projects:)

My Altered Art Journey

It all started with a Spiro-graph and a Spin Art kit I received when I was very young...I can remember creating my "masterpieces" and placing them in a makeshift "scrapbook" that I cherished for many years...and then lost via way too many young adult moves.

After raising my children, I turned again to art, starting with scrapbooking and card making.  I've taught scrapbooking and paper crafting for over 15 years.  Teaching just warms my heart.

My love for teaching others is still very strong, and I find that as soon as I learn a new technique, I cannot WAIT to SHARE it in a class.  I have been teaching paper crafting classes for over 15 years, much in scrapbooking, card making, and always technique driven.

While attending an art class at a local community college, I was introduced to mixed media ART.  I could stare at a piece of work for HOURS, looking at EVERY nook and cranny...noticing SO MANY hidden TREASURES as I looked deeper and deeper into each piece.

Many of the mixed media ART pieces I studied just "spoke to ME"...so as I migrated into this AMAZING world of Mixed Media, Altered Art,  I have found myself ALWAYS starting with a quote...or a song lyric...or a line from a poem...that "speaks to ME"... before I start any project.

I will take the words and visualize them as an ART piece and then just start to CREATE.

I am OFTEN ASKED what I think my style is...and recently with some help from my very dear artist friends, we came up with a name for my signature style...and I call it HIPPIE CHIC (thanks, Jacquie) or BOHEMIAN CHIC (thanks, Melody).

I have taught some very successful mixed media ART classes and am grateful for each and every student that has passed through my classroom door.

I have a very quirky, warm teaching style and just LOVE to see what my students CREATE in my classes.  My students have also taught me so much and I value and love each and every one of them!

I've served on many amazing design teams (some of which are still going strong, and some of which have been laid to rest).

I've been published in several on-line magazines...mainly for my frugal scrapping style which I hold near and dear to my heart.

I have been very blessed through this journey...to have had great supporters, mentors, students, and opportunities.  From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you:)
