Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday - WILD

When I saw the theme for this week's Fabulous Friday challenge over at the Frosted Designs Blog I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do.  I had just printed a few b/w photos of my youngest grandson, Alex and one photo in particular REALLY caught the essence of his PERSONALITY. 

I was also going through some old idea books I have and when I came across a page in an Ali Edwards idea book called "Life Artist", my idea REALLY came together.  I had just bought a few new stamps and wanted to use them, and Ali's inspiration allowed me to do just that.  I actually used this book for a Scrapbook club I used to lead...I love it when an idea book from 2007 can still inspire in this ever changing world of ART!  Thanks for the inspiration, Ali!!!

Alex is SOOO full of life and just loves to play "catch me if you can". Whenever I take my camera out, though, he is so patient and will wait for me to take as many pictures as I want before scurrying off.  Since this week's theme over at the Frosted Designs Blog, I wanted to use the word "WILD" in my project.

Since Alex really is our "Little Wild Man", the title fit right in with the project.

Here are a few close-ups:

I started by painted my entire canvas with acrylic paint.  I mixed a few colors together to get this great aqua color.  I applied the paint with a sponge brush and purposefully layed it on thick so the edges of the sponge brush would lay thicker paint along the edges of the paint strokes.

Then I used several of my new stamps to layer paint and ink to obtain the look above.  I also used some embossing powder on the edges and layered rub-ons from my stash.  I also made use of some old scrabble pieces that I embellished with some yellow paint.

I also wanted to make the photo stand out more, so I added a 5 x 7 flat canvas piece to give the photo some lift.
